Today, I want to provide an update regarding the important actions we are taking to safeguard our borders and national security, considering the very grave situation in Haiti.
As many Bahamians know, armed gangs in Haiti have assaulted critical infrastructure there, including the airport. There has been a collapse of law and order in many parts of the country, and a serious humanitarian crisis is unfolding.
I know the Bahamian people join me in praying for the many innocent people who are caught up in the awful violence and suffering.
Unfortunately, there are no straightforward or easy solutions for Haiti, and the country’s disorder and instability present a security threat for the whole region. Read more
