Miles Myrie, the 20-year-old son of famous reggae-dancehall singer Mark ‘Buju Banton’ Myrie, has tragically passed away. This was confirmed by Miles’ brother Jahazeil Myrie in an interview with Observer Online on Monday. While Jahazeil did not want to divulge personal details about Miles’ death, as he felt that was his father’s role, he did say that Miles had a pure soul and felt compelled to make a statement about his brother’s passing.
Jahazeil revealed that Miles was living in the United States at the time of his death, but did not specify the cause or if he had been ill. He went on to say that he and Miles grew up together and that Miles was always motivating him to never give up. Even from a young age, Miles was a very motivational person no matter what. Originally aspiring to become a judge when he was younger, Miles grew to love rapping as he got older and wanted to pursue a career as a rapper.
On Monday, Jahazeil posted a photo of himself with Miles on his Instagram story, along with Popcaan’s sad song ‘Only Jah Know,’ and a broken heart emoji, seemingly mourning the devastating loss of his sibling.
