Monkeypox claimed life in South Africa

The monkeypox virus (Mpox) has claimed a life in South Africa, according to a statement made on Wednesday by Joe Phaahla, the health minister. There have been five laboratory-confirmed cases of the illness recorded throughout the nation.

According to Phaahla, KwaZulu-Natal Province is home to three of the five males in their thirties who caught the virus; the other two are from Gauteng Province. Out of the five cases, two are still hospitalized and two have been discharged. A 37-year-old male patient passed away on Monday at Tembisa Hospital in Johannesburg. More
